EXPERT 24-HOUR CARE AT HOME, FOR ALL OF LIFE

For over 75 years Prestige Nursing & Care has been trusted by our clients, and their families to provide competent and compassionate 24-hour home care.  Our care is focused on improving health and overall well-being, and all in the place people love most, their own home.

WHAT IS 24-HOUR HOME CARE?

24-hour care at home is provided to people who are either living with complex needs who need nurse-led care, or who are living with a condition that impacts their ability to live well and need condition-led care.  For generations of people our 24-hour home care offers continuous support provided by a team of carers who get to really understand your needs and are expertly trained to provide high-quality complex care or paediatric care in the comfort of your own home.

A small team of reliable carers will care for you on a rotation to ensure you get the right care, at the right time.  Whilst different shift patterns are offered, most clients benefit from carers working eight or 12 hours shifts over a 24-hour period.

A range of options is offered if you need care throughout the night, including our sleep on-call service, which means a carer will sleep during the night, but is there to assist should you need them.  Waking nights is offered to those who need night-time assistance, such as repositioning in bed, managing a ventilation machine or administering medications.

WHEN IS 24-HOUR CARE NEEDED?

If you are an older person faced with increasing care needs, or you are living with a progressive condition, or disability or you have sadly experienced an accident, you may wish to consider 24-hour care.  For those with complex needs and require nurse-led care at home for interventions like airway management, our 24-hour care ensures clinical needs are met around the clock.

When a permanent arrangement is needed around the clock, we are able to offer award-winning live-in care through our family of home care brands.  A live-in care service delivered, provides families with much-needed peace of mind that their loved one is safe and well in their own home, with care and support that is rated as ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

YOUR HOME IS BEST FOR A FULFILLED LIFE

We know through our experience of supporting thousands of people and their families, that faced with the prospect of needing long-term care and support, most people would prefer to stay in the safety, comfort and familiarity of their treasured home and not endure the disruption caused from a move away.

For many a move from home can cause much upset, worry and for some confusion. Having routines imposed on how you live, leaving your loved one, feeling isolated from family and friends or your local community are all common concerns experienced by those facing a move into a care home, specialist care setting, a hospice or facing a prolonged stay in hospital.

Staying at home with 24-hour care at home means that you can continue to live life your way, whilst benefitting from one-to-one care provided by a competent and compassionate carer whose focus it is to improve the quality of your life and enhance well-being.

COMPETENT AND COMPASSIONATE 24-HOUR CARERS

When you choose Prestige Nursing & Care you can be reassured that the carer who cares for you or your loved one is experienced and expertly trained to provide the support you need, to the high standards you should expect.

If you are receiving complex care at home, the carers we choose to support your needs will have at least six months care or health sector experience before they come to care for you. In addition to completing our induction training programme, which goes above mandatory requirements they are trained by our registered nurses, clinical experts and other healthcare professionals involved in providing care to a specific client.  This hands-on nurse training means our carers can competently undertake a range of clinical interventions. We adopt a bespoke approach to training that ensures our carers have the knowledge, skills and aptitude to deliver high-quality complex care that meets the very specific needs of our clients.  Through our unrivalled supervision and clinical oversight carers can adapt their approach and evolve the care they provide to meet changing needs.

CLINICAL EXCELLENCE AT PRESTIGE NURSING & CARE

Clinical excellence is at the heart of our culture and approach to service delivery at Prestige Nursing & Care. Our nurse-led home care service is monitored and supported by our experienced regional nursing teams.  Our team of qualified regional nurses are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Each holds a registered nursing qualification in at least one nursing specialism, including general adult nursing, learning and disability nursing, mental health nursing and children’s nursing. They enable the planning and delivery of safe and effective complex care to our clients, that is focused on ensuring the best possible care experience for our clients and their families.

Our nurses work in partnership with our care co-ordinators, carers, clients and families to identify specific care needs and plan the most appropriate care provision, whilst ensuring all our carers have the skills they need to deliver high standards of nurse-led care. They also provide families with on-going advice and continual support to ensure they feel reassured about the service we provide.

Enabling John to leave hospital with high-quality nursing care at home John is a 58-year-old who has difficulties in maintaining electrolyte balance

Enabling John to leave hospital with high-quality nursing care at home

John is a 58-year-old who has difficulties in maintaining electrolyte balance orally due to fluid loss.

He requires 24/7 RGN care to administer sodium chloride distal flushes every two hours over a 24-hour period, as well as managing a very complicated double stoma. John had been in hospital for just over a year prior to Prestige Nursing & Care being asked to care for him and securing a successful discharge back home.

The team is led by a lead nurse who provides clinical oversight as well as bespoke, tailored training to the nurse team that provides his care. In addition to support from a registered nurse, we also introduced a team of carers to support his domestic duties which significantly eased John's assimilation back into family life.  Not only have our team of nurses played a pivotal role in meeting John’s complex needs, but they have also been instrumental in his reablement at home.  Our lead nurse has worked closely with various multi-disciplinary teams involved in John's care, particularly with his physiotherapist which has enabled John to become more independent.  He has been able to continue with his hobbies and interests, which he has been unable to do prior to going into hospital.

The CCG Case Manager responsible for John’s care provision commented: “I visited John for the first time to complete his three-month review.  I was asked by the family to pass on their thanks and positive feedback about the nurses and carers looking after John.  They have total reassurance that the care is organised efficiently, is delivered by the same team offering them continuity and are pleased to know a registered nurse is always on shift to guide clinical interventions.”

WHAT DOES OUR 24-HOUR HOME CARE SERVICE INCLUDE?

BENEFITS OF 24-HOUR HOME CARE VS. A CARE HOME

We know through our experience that faced with the prospect of needing long-term care and support, that most people would prefer to stay in their treasured home, and not endure the disruption caused from a move into a residential care or nursing home. There are many benefits to receiving hourly care at home as opposed to moving into a care home.

  • One-to-one care and support – whilst there are many good care homes, one-to-one care simply cannot be provided in any care home
  • Familiar surroundings provide comfort for those who are living with conditions like dementia or Parkinson’s or are recovering from a stroke or receiving nursing care at home
  • No rigid timetables directing your daily routines and how you live your life – at home you can live with choice and independence
  • Keep your treasured home in your family – if you move into a care home it is likely that you will have to sell the family home to fund your care home fees
  • Peace of mind for families – those close to you have the reassurance that you are getting all the care and support you need in the safety of your own home
  • Couples can stay together as a loving couple – if you move into a care home you will be separated from living with your spouse or partner. Even if you both need care and go into a care home together, it is highly unlikely you will be able to share the same room. If you have different care needs, you may not be able to be cared for in the same part of the home
  • Maintain what is important to you in life – staying at home enables you to continue to live with your cherished pet, having all your possessions and memories around you and keeping up with friends in your local community or hobbies you enjoy – all of which is very difficult to achieve in a care home
  • The cost of care at home is very cost effective when compared with the overall weekly fee of receiving care in a residential or nursing home

OUTSTANDING LIVE-IN CARE

If you have been receiving 24-hour home care and your care needs are increasing due to deteriorating health or higher levels of frailty, you may wish to consider a live-in care arrangement.  Through our family of leading home care brands in the UK, we are able to offer award-winning live-in care rated ‘Outstanding’ by The Care Quality Commission (CQC).

For many families live-in care is a natural progression when you need continuity of around the clock care at home, provided a professional carer who lives with you permanently and truly gets to understand your needs, avoiding a disruptive and upsetting move into a residential care or nursing home.

Home Care FAQS

CARE MANAGEMENT LOCAL TO YOU

Our responsive and reliable hourly care service local to you means we can put care and support in place quickly, and in many cases within 24-hours.   Depending on your needs, a comprehensive assessment will be conducted by either a registered nurse or our local care expert.  We can conduct the assessment at your home, in hospital or in any specialist care setting if you are awaiting discharge back home, enabling a plan of care to be developed that meets all your needs.

Our approach to care planning ensures we capture all your preferences and wishes so you can live a contented life in the comfort of your own home.  We take time to find the carer that would best meet your care and support needs, making sure they are closely aligned with how you wish to live your life. Once care is in place, our local teams made up of care and clinical experts provide you, your family and our carer with an abundance of on-going support.  This gives you peace of mind that you or your loved one is receiving the very best 24-hour home care.

COSTS OF 24-HOUR CARE AT HOME

The cost of 24-hour home care is dependent on the level of care and support you require, with the overall cost determined by the number of visits and frequency of visits to you at home. Our experts will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your needs at your home, or in hospital if you are awaiting discharge to truly understand what you need and therefore how much 24-hour home care will cost.

We know that our 24-hour care costs are very competitive when compared with other 24-hour home care providers.  It is worth noting that when comparing the cost of 24-hour care with a care package in a care home, that the fee you pay for 24-hour care at home is actually for the care and support you receive.  In a care home your weekly fee mainly covers your accommodation, food and social activities with the care package being only a small part of what you pay.You may be entitled to either healthcare funding, social care funding or Government funding to contribute to the cost of 24-hour home care.  If you are faced with having to finance your own home care (known as self-funding care), there are initiatives available to you, including care fees annuities or equity release schemes that could provide the funds you need for your care and support.
