For many a move from home can cause much upset, worry and for some confusion. Having routines imposed on how you live, leaving your loved one, feeling isolated from family and friends or your local community are all common concerns experienced by those facing a move into a care home, specialist care setting or facing a prolonged stay in hospital.

They will focus on effectively managing your post-operative care needs, so you can have an improved quality of life with enhanced well-being. Care at home enables you to remain independent and live your life with choice, whilst assisting you to successfully meet rehabilitation and reablement goals.
WHAT IS KNEE AND HIP REPLACEMENT CARE?
Problems with our hips and knees occur as we naturally age but can also be caused through other conditions or injuries. For many these problems can be resolved using pain management techniques or alternative therapies, but for some more specialist medical treatments are needed, including replacements to cure disease and repair injuries.
What causes hip pain?
Hip pain can be brought on for several reasons causing pain in the hip joint, which result in pain on the inside of the hip or the groin. Pain on the outside of the hip, upper thigh or buttock is usually caused by problem with muscles, ligaments, tendons and other soft tissues that surround the hip joint. For many hip pain is caused by osteoarthritis a form of arthritis where there is gradual wear and tear of the surfaces in the hip. Other diseases in other parts of the body, like the lower back or knees can result hip pain – this is called referred pain.
What causes knee pain?
The knee joint is the largest and most complex joint in the body. It is therefore the most stressed joint in the body, enduring significant wear and tear. The most common reason that people experience knee pain is due to a type of arthritis – osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis or traumatic arthritis. Other factors can contribute to knee pain including development abnormalities, repetitive injuries and obesity.
Knee and hip replacement surgery
When you are living with permanent and underlying pain in the hip or knee joint it can be debilitating and really impact how you live your life. Reduced mobility and on-going pain management can become too restrictive and burdensome impacting quality of life, so many choose to have a full or partial replacement of the joint.
The benefits of surgery for a knee or hip replacement include a decrease in pain, improved mobility and movement, regained independence and confidence and an improved overall quality of life. Whilst you will need a comprehensive rehabilitation programme, with the right care and support you can achieve successful outcomes. Recovery from these procedures often takes many weeks and sometimes months so care after hip replacement surgery can aid and assist recovery time.
